Our Story

Our story begins in 1998 as a back garden dream. First known as Rookery Barns, we were built from a passion for oak and the craftsmanship required to create these beautiful buildings. Rookery Barns quickly developed into a successful Hampshire business, admired and recommended by many in the area.

As time passed, the original owners retired, and Rookery Barns was passed on to Mark Bennett and Steve Webb. Mark and Steve have worked closely with the original team to develop the business further, using their innovative outlook and experience in the construction industry to build on our original success and reputation, allowing us to take on more varied projects. They have also been decisive in forging our new commitment to sustainability.

Changing our name to Eavoak in 2024 has helped reflect our more comprehensive range of oak framed buildings while also highlighting the integrity of our materials and processes and our dedication towards a more sustainable approach. The new name echoes the emotional connections our bespoke spaces can provoke. Much more than four walls and a roof, they are inspiring and characterful spaces in which you can create lasting memories.

Throughout our history, we’ve been fortunate to build strong relationships with our team, suppliers & clients. These relationships underpin everything we do – employing local people, partnering with local suppliers and building for local clients.

Our Partners

We champion the use of timber sourced from forests under silvicultural management. English Woodland Timber are the perfect partners, supplying a comprehensive range of certified British and European timbers.

Giving our customers the option of proven renewable energy sources is crucial to our work. We partner with Clear Sky Energy, an independent, local company, to design an install a complete range of renewable energy products.

Memberships & Accreditations

Woodland Heritage is creating a thriving UK wood culture that benefits our environment, people, and economy. They do this by championing the good use of home-grown timber from sustainable, productive woodlands to benefit present and future generations. Our membership supports Woodland Heritage’s critical work.

The Guild of Master Craftsmen represents both modern and traditional craftsmen, such as carpenters and builders, stone masons and furniture restorers. Membership and the right to be called a master craftsman are only granted after being thoroughly assessed. Our membership of The Guild is proof of our team’s quality, integrity, skill and excellence and one we hold with pride.
