Three-bay oak framed garage with custom-built gym

  1. A well-considered exterior
  2. An attentive service

Our clients live in a beautifully renovated cottage, surrounded by rolling countryside. A run-of-the-mill garage would have been an eyesore, yet they needed somewhere secure in which to store their treasured collection of vehicles. They wanted their new garage to do more than simply house their tractor and car and chose to include a home gym in the same project.

Three-bay oak framed garage with custom-built gym

Combining storage for a collection of precious motors with a high-specification home gym.

Our clients were clear about what they wanted – a large oak framed garage to provide plenty of secure, dry storage for their treasured tractor and cars. They also wanted the building to house a fully equipped and stylish home gym.

We ply-lined the interior of the three-bay garage for extra protection against the elements, whilst providing a robust surface from which to hang shelving and tools. Stable doors open onto the driveway, and the generously sized entrances allow for effortless entry and exit for all three vehicles. The gym feels light, airy and luxurious thanks to the combination of sandblasted structural beams and striking floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto the sweeping countryside.

A well-considered exterior

The clients were clear about how their new garage and gym needed to blend in with the local environment. Using green oak made that easy – it will age to a soft silver tone, making it look as if it’s always been there. The tiled roof feels similarly timeless and is reassuringly robust – essential for something as important as garaging. The bespoke full-height windows for the gym set this project apart but risked turning the building into a magnet for potential intruders. We designed and built oak bifold doors to conceal the windows and glass doors when not in use. This provides additional security and ensures the building complements its surroundings with ease.

An attentive service

The bespoke glass walls and door needed extra attention to ensure they fitted neatly behind the bifold doors. Our project manager liaised with the window manufacturer to ensure we had the correct information and managed the delivery and installation.
