With a picturesque setting surrounded by wildlife and water, our clients wanted a multi-tasking building to sit alongside their stunning home. They needed secure garaging for two cars, with an oak framed garden room they could use as a yoga studio, music room and self-contained guest bedroom.

Two-bay green oak garage and garden room design and build

Creating a well-considered multi-purpose space to enjoy all year round.

The new oak framed building would sit on the edge of a wooded area overlooking a large duck pond. This made it especially important to feel like the building had always been there. The green oak frame and cladding ensure the building feels like a natural addition. At the same time, clever details such as electric up-an-over garage doors designed to look like traditional barn doors prevent the building from feeling at odds with its surroundings. The building’s layout was an important consideration, and our designer created a design that provided easy access for our clients’ cars while ensuring the garden room felt private and calm.

The building incorporates a structural green oak frame with oak tie beams and king posts to support the oak ridge. This allows for a magnificent, vaulted ceiling and a suitably characterful appearance. Practical details such as a large log store, additional hidden storage above the veranda and security lighting combine to make the oak framed building as useful as it is attractive.

 

Beautiful inside and out

The vaulted ceiling above the garage allows for plenty of storage with the possibility of future conversion into an additional room. French doors open from the garden room for a peaceful view of the duckpond, while bifold doors give access to a veranda – the perfect spot from which to enjoy a cool drink while sheltering from the heat of the day, or to sit in the warm while still appreciating nature. Full insulation and a shower room and WC expand the possibilities of this building, making it a welcoming place for guests to stay all year round and a practical place to freshen up after sports or gardening.

 

Fully managed oak framed building service

We provided a full turnkey service from design all the way to decorating. We secured planning permission on our clients’ behalf and then coordinated the groundworks, production in our workshop, frame erection and tiling. The interior work involved plumbing, full electrics, and decorating, allowing our clients to focus on their everyday life, safe in the knowledge we had everything under control.
